![]() ![]() ![]() For example, the stories that the Midnight Club members tell one another are drawn from other works by the prolific YA author. Mike Flanagan and Leah Fong have expanded upon the source material, drawing inspiration from Pike's other work. RELATED: The Midnight Club Episode 7 Explained: What Happened To Anya?Īnother reason The Midnight Club season 2 is such a surprise is that Christopher Pike's source novel is, like Flanagan's previous shows, a standalone tale. In doing so, he avoids making terminal illness a tacky horror trope and allows each character to have satisfying arcs across multiple seasons. A series about eight terminally ill teenagers who tell one another scary stories to keep their spirits up could also be seen to have a clearly defined endpoint, but Flanagan avoids bringing the stories of The Midnight Club's kids to an abrupt ending. ![]() That's why the ending of The Midnight Club feels so abrupt, as Flanagan's audience is used to his projects having clearly defined endpoints. Aside from Doctor Sleep, his sequel to Stephen King's The Shining, Mike Flanagan doesn't do follow-ups to his projects. ![]()

I’m a fast reader, sure, but nothing like this - and not usually until two in the morning. In a little more than five hours, I had devoured the entire novel. To say I couldn’t put down Cracked Up to Be by Courtney Summers is definitely an understatement. ![]() ![]() ![]() Peeler’s writing is great but the narration for books 1 -3 was not letting it shine. She has breathed new life into the Jane True series. The Narration: I was so freaking excited when I found out that Khristine Hvam was narrating the rest of the series. The Romance: Now that it looks like Jane and Anyan might be moving to having a future together I can’t wait to see how that part of the story ends. But when there looks to be a supe war in the gang’s every near future that is to be expected. The Series: Even though Eye of the Tempest had a very different feel to it and it was not my favorite in the series, Jane True is still going strong in my heart and I’m a little nervous for the next two books. But I felt like it was necessary in order to have a few questions answered even if it only made other questions pop up. ![]() Definitely a different feel from the other books. Actually most of the book is about Jane, Blondie and the creature. Blondie is around a lot in this installment to help Jane with her inner and outer journey in becoming the champion. The weird part is the octopus-like creature that is hiding under Rockabill that has a powerful connection with Jane. It’s a turning point in Jane’s life and I think it sets the tone for the rest of the series. It felt like a bridge book connecting the previous book and the next book. The Plot: Eye of the Tempest was a little on the weird side. ![]() ![]() ![]() Sassoon, too, became a television talk-show host and celebrity.įishman, Diane and Marcia Powell, Vidal Sassoon: Fifty Years Ahead, New York, Rizzoli, 1993. His salons became the first chain of worldwide hair styling salons and were complemented by his international sales of hair-treatment products. Freeing women from the beauty parlor and nights of sleeping with curlers and other mechanisms on their heads, Sassoon became emblematic of freedom and sensible good health. Its abiding principle was geometry, letting the hair move naturally, and was typified by the 1960s hairstyles of the Beatles themselves. Sassoon's new ideal of beauty was literally care-free and could, for most women, be cut once a month. Sassoon created the bob and easy geometric hairstyles that liberated women from weekly visits to the beauty parlor and the stiff, heavy, fixed hairstyles of prior generations. "Swinging London" of the 1960s, with the Beatles and Carnaby Street, produced no revolution more important perhaps than that of Vidal Sassoon. ![]() ![]() Unlike the other books, which take place over a short period of time, Lover Reborn spans a year.I swear it’s worth it!) and My Secret Private Playground: With Envy coming in less than a month, Ward has been devoting her efforts to promoting the next Fallen Angels instalment, with daily quotes and weekly videos posted on Facebook.īut the recent Envy signing also produced some amazing BDB spoilers, with highlights from The Obscured Vixen (Click on the link to find out about Layla’s talent. ![]() ![]() There are small excerpts from upcoming releases on Facebook from Qhuinn where he’s jealous of his cousin for being with Blay ( Lover Reborn), Rhage’s love for Mary (their novella) and the size of a male’s (presumably Veck) appendage in Envy.
